3 lessons I learned from the Lion King

Last night my son, my wife, and I sat down and watched a classic Disney movie, “The Lion King.”

Every Disney movie is full of incredible life lessons. That’s one of the reasons they not only sell big year after year, but kids and adults alike are often spellbound and mesmerized when they see them.

After watching The Lion King last night, I must admit I was captivated and mesmerized by the lessons that came out of the movie.

Here are three that you can use in your life.

1. Just because someone says it’s your fault doesn’t mean it is.

After Simba’s father Mufasa was killed in the stampede in the ravine, Scar undid his plan and told Simba that his father’s death was his fault. He told Simba to run away and when he did he sent the hyenas to kill him.

All because he wanted to be king.

Remember, there are some bad people out there who are only looking out for their own best interest. If bad things happen to you, it’s not always your fault, but it’s your responsibility to change them if you don’t like them.

2. You develop new beliefs almost every day. Are your current beliefs benefiting you?

As Simba grew up with Timon and Pumbaa, he learned and adopted a new belief and mantra, “Hakuna Matata”. “Without worries”.

He later realized that his understanding of “No Worries” actually prevented him from being his true self, the King of Pride Land.

If a current belief isn’t giving you the results you want, change it and change it quickly.

3. A coach can really help you see your true self.

Rafiki is a wise old baboon who knows what he knows. He is Mufasa’s humble advisor before he died and Simba’s after he became king.

It’s instrumental in showing Simba who he really is and what he’s capable of when he harnesses his inner powers.

Good advice from a monkey… “look inside.” Sometimes the only way you can see the flaws in him is to have someone he trusts look at him from an outside point of view and give him feedback.

It is best to acquire a trusted advisor/coach who is results-oriented and has your best interest at heart and mind. [email protected] When you do, your life will take off like a rocket.
