An MLM Nightmare – Or Reality?

You can choose to “work hard for money” or you can work smarter and “make your money work hard for you.” Either way, the choice is yours and always has been.

To illustrate the point I want to make, here is a real-life scenario that is happening more and more often these days:

For this example, let’s assume that over time you’ve built a fairly large multi-level or network marketing organization with a company we’ll refer to as “ABC” that pays you around $17,000 a month.

Just as planned, he quit his job several months early, took out a big mortgage on his dream home, and bought the new car he’s always wanted.

By all accounts, life is good with “ABC”…

Then one day a new company called “XYZ” is launched featuring a competing niche product; the most intriguing of all is that they offer higher commissions than those paid by “ABC”. Furthermore, they claim that they have combined the best features of all other rival products in their particular industry niche into one product so you don’t have to work as hard. How lucky for you!

Yet despite these enticing claims, as a loyal leader with “ABC,” he decides it’s best to focus on his show, since he has so much time and money invested in “ABC.”

But since news travels fast on the internet, one of the top leaders of their team, a husband and wife team, decides that the grass is in fact greener with “XYZ”, so they “jump ship”. and they move to this new company.

But the worst is yet to come… Not only are they no longer promoting their main show, but with a single click of the mouse… With a single email to their list of a couple thousand contacts that includes their (also known as their) downline and upline… They basically destroy dozens of “ABC” businesses, cutting these people’s respective paychecks by at least 50%…

Including yours!

That means the income you rely on to pay for your monthly expenses — like your dream home, new car, retirement investment, and money you need to put your kids through school — is literally at risk of being destroyed. evaporate overnight.

Some might think that I am exaggerating the power of the Internet or the influence of a single email. If you are one of them, all you have to do is remember the electoral crisis in Iran…

When the Iranian government tried to control the traditional media (and practically succeeded), every day Iranians used Twitter and Facebook to inform the world of the protests that were taking place in their streets. Whether you were tuning into CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC, all of these news organizations relied on these blogs and message boards to report what was happening.

They had no choice!

When it comes to elections, let’s not forget the 2008 presidential election, where ridiculous opinions and rumors (and occasionally unbiased news) from the right, the left, and the political center spread around the world at the speed of a single click. of the mouse. In fact, political pundits of all persuasions were amazed at the way President Obama’s campaign laid the groundwork for its massive grassroots movement through blogs, message boards, email marketing, and social media for nearly 18 months. before the Iowa caucuses. Maybe you’ve never thought of it this way before, or maybe the thought never even crossed your mind in the first place, but wouldn’t you agree that it’s better to know what you’re getting into sooner than later? Are you already mentally, emotionally and financially invested in a business?

Fact is, you don’t know what kind of long-term plans people in your downline have, and you don’t know what they’re going to do next, yet your commission checks depend almost 100% on them and hundreds or thousands. of others like them!

In other words, you can’t control what others will do and therefore your monthly income isn’t secure, and if you’re a network professional building a traditional MLM and something like this hasn’t happened to you yet, I hate to be. the harbinger of bad news, but it’s only a matter of time before it happens to you too!

Admittedly, this type of wear and tear wasn’t much of an issue in decades past, but it surely is today and that’s why it needs to be addressed, hopefully before you experience it firsthand.

When you combine the nightmare scenario I described above with the fact that, for some reason, the all-important practice of retailing has become taboo in the crazy world of 21st century MLM, nightmares like the one described above are unfortunately becoming more and more. more “the rule” and not the exception. Also, why on earth do these companies spend a minimum of 90% or more of their focus, attention, and post-training on recruiting alone?

Have they forgotten all the business basics they established long ago that customer acquisition is where long-term stable money is made?

For better or worse, this is the new reality of traditional MLM and network marketing: a world where you’ll be forced to recruit every day for the life of your business just to combat the constant erosion that will affect your bottom line. organization.

Can you see why I think the MLM business model is fatally flawed? The bottom line is that the ONLY WAY you can make money in this type of business is by recruiting someone to buy products or selling them to a customer you need to find (which is usually one in the same as most customers are actually , only distributors who buy products, also called “internal consumption”).

The moment your new distributor feels frustrated… Feels trapped… Or feels like a failure… They will immediately begin to consider the endless supply of money-making alternatives that fill their email inboxes on a daily basis. , and eventually. .. ‘POOF’, they’re gone.

And now that? What is the solution? Well, that’s the million dollar question, isn’t it? And to be honest, there is no right or wrong answer.

I guess it really all depends on what YOU personally want from a business and if you are willing to take on all the challenges I just described.

I don’t know about you, but my partners and I entered this industry to earn a massive and stable residual income and help others do the same, but we are faced with the fact that traditional MLM just isn’t the opportunity. used to be.

And it doesn’t matter which company you join in MLM. You are going to face the same challenges that I have detailed in all of them. The industry itself has changed, and you will never find a single product or compensation plan that will fix it.

Please understand, if you are currently active in this industry, I am not criticizing you or your company and will even keep an open mind enough that there may indeed be that rare 1 in 1000 exception, but if the The idea of ​​having to start from scratch and build a new business every 9-24 months sounds like fun to you, so hey… go for it!

But seriously, if that kind of “carousel” no longer holds any appeal for you and you’re tired of jumping, burnout, rumor control, taking care of adult children who never get anything done, or dealing with slackers and “kickers of blown tires” and “fence keepers” who think $300 to start a business is too much money… Then consider this your wake-up call.

That said, it is imperative that you collect as much information as possible so that you can honestly assess the long-term profitability of ANY legitimate home business opportunity.
