One of the best places to find information or the World Wide Web is the message board! There are tons of forums on the internet covering all sorts of topics you can think of. Most forums are free to join and members develop great relationships with each other that last forever. A forum owner expects the best for the forum from him and part of his hopes is the hope of great content. The forum member is the one who can help provide that great content. You can be one of those members who contribute valuable information to a forum!
Before you post on a forum, you need to make sure that your post has some kind of commitment meaning. This means that the post must continue the discussion one way or another. You may want to contribute an answer to someone’s question or a question to someone to get more answers. It’s always good to quote other members of a discussion to engage them in further conversation. You should post as much detail as you can so people don’t have to ask more questions to understand what you’re trying to say.
Many forum members make small comments that go nowhere like “Wow! That’s really helpful” and then don’t get a response. Members are not trying to be mean to the member who posted the short answer; they just don’t have any method to respond because there was nothing to respond to. We in the forum world call this a one line reply and sadly it usually ends the topic after it happens. Many one line replies are usually associated with spamming members and some forums have rules against such replies. Basically, if you don’t have much to say that doesn’t contribute to the discussion, it’s best not to say anything at all.
One of the things I suggest to my forum members is to actively participate in the discussions. I suggest that you find questions that you know the answers to and answer them in great detail. I tell them to post new topics frequently to create new discussions that are not found anywhere else on the forum. I encourage members of my forum to be as active as possible. When a member posts really great content, I tend to pay close attention to it. The attention makes them feel worthy and they keep coming back to post quality content that brings more value.
If you want to be seen as a forum asset in a certain community, just join and be really active while posting awesome discussions that engage everyone on the forum. You will be loved by everyone after doing this for a while.
