David Beckham began to show his special athletic abilities even as a child. Born and raised in Leytonstone, England, he was active in soccer and was awarded the Bobby Charlton Soccer Skills Award at the young age of 11. Five years later, when Beckham turned 16, he was appointed as a United trainee. After a year of training for the team, he was finally able to play as a substitute for Andrei Kanchelskis. That moment when he came on as a substitute to play Brighton marked his first game as a United player. Beckham further demonstrated his talent by winning the 1992 FA Youth Cup and also managing to be runner-up the following year. This convinced United to officially make him a professional player for their team. In January 1993, the 18-year-old Beckham played his first match in the Champions League and contributed significantly to the overall victory of his new team.
The existence of his talent has been obvious to everyone, but because there are still a sufficient number of veteran and more experienced players, Beckham was only able to make his full debut in 1995. After his full debut, David Beckham continued to impress fans. of football and other players too by winning the Cup and Charity Shield and the FA Premier League. Although the kick was done lightly, his fans did not appreciate it.
Winning another FA Cup in 1999 and a Champions League title weren’t enough to win back the love of their English fans. Due to his continuous display of bad temper during matches, Beckham received much criticism. He was only able to redeem his reputation during the match against Argentina at the 2002 World Cup. Beckham successfully converted a penalty kick, making his home country the winner of the Cup. Thanks to this victory, his English fans finally managed to forgive. his inappropriate behavior and consider him as the best athlete in his country.
Beckham’s great success in football is not only the reason why his popularity is so immense. His popularity also increased when he married the famous Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham. His lifestyle is the envy of not only most English people but also people all over the world.
David Beckham currently plays for LA’s Galaxy and would continue until the end of the 2009 season. Rumors say that he will play for Milan after his contract with Galaxy ends.
