Honda will reduce carbon dioxide emissions

The growing awareness of the threat of the global warming problem in the automotive industry makes car manufacturers take steps to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases from their vehicles. New developments, such as better particulate filters, are being used to trap greenhouse gases before they can be released into the atmosphere.

Honda is one of the leading automakers in terms of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Because of its dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the company was recently named the “Greenest Automaker” by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

The Japanese car company is already reducing the amount of carbon dioxide that its vehicles or in the production of its vehicles release into the atmosphere.

Japan’s second-largest automaker has already used advanced fuel-reduction technologies in its Honda and Acura vehicles. The use of such technologies gave them the best corporate average fuel economy or CAFE.

For 2006 model year passenger cars, Honda’s fleet averages 33.9 miles per gallon, while for light trucks the average is 24.7 miles per gallon. The mpg rating is determined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency or EPA.

The company’s dedication to reducing carbon dioxide emissions became evident in May 2006 when Honda became the first automaker to announce a voluntary reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2010. The planned reduction is not only for your vehicles but also in the production process. Last year, the company announced that it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions from its cars worldwide by five percent between 2205 and 2010.

The five percent reduction target will bring the total reduction in carbon dioxide emissions to ten percent from 2000 to 2010. In addition to reducing emissions from its automobiles, the company will also aim to reduce carbon dioxide emissions carbon of their motorcycles by ten percent from 2000 to 2010.

In order for the company to achieve its proposed reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, it has embarked on the development of advanced technologies for its vehicles. Some of these advanced technologies that they have developed are the improved variable cylinder management system and other intelligent engine systems. Honda will also produce affordable gasoline-electric hybrids to make them easily accessible to a large number of car buyers. The company is also developing a clean diesel engine with reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

Honda is designing the diesel engine to have emissions that are as clean as its fuel-efficient gasoline engines. These vehicles will, of course, offer that signature Honda reliability similar to Volvo’s valve cover gasket reliability.

In terms of vehicle production, Honda also aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. From the year 2000 to 2005, the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere during the production of a Honda vehicle is reduced by five percent. The company intends to further reduce that by a further five percent through the year 2010. For motorcycle production, Honda plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by twenty percent through the year 2010.
