How to stay warm on cold winter nights

Winter is right around the corner and with winter comes cold, cold nights. Trying to go to sleep can be quite difficult when you can’t feel your toes. Raising the temperature in the thermal is out of the question. It will just cost you a lot of cash. Lucky for us, there are a number of ways you can stay warm at night without increasing your gas or electric bill, and they include:

  • Plastic On Windows. Putting plastic on your windows may sound tacky, but it’s a great way to save some extra cash this winter. If you can’t stand looking at plastic, cover your windows with some beautiful and elegant heavy curtains and you’ll forget about plastic on your windows.
  • Keep windows closed. With or without plastic, keeping windows closed is a great way to keep cold air out.
  • Open blinds and curtains. Letting a bit of sun shine into your home can help you get the warmth you need throughout the day. Open the blinds and shades during the day and feel what a difference you can make at night. A little sunshine in your life is a good thing.
  • Wear socks to sleep. Sleeping in socks can give you an extra boost of warmth and can actually help with circulation. Personally, I prefer wool socks because they are warmer, prevent blisters, foot odor, and some even look adorable.
  • Exercise. Getting your heart pumping gets your blood flowing and your temperature up. As a bonus, you’ll also look and feel great.
  • Adequate bedding. No need to bundle up with a bunch of sheets and blankets. A high-quality down comforter and duvet cover will have you sleeping like a baby in no time.
  • Hot tea. A cup of hot tea will help keep you warm and is also very relaxing and calming.
  • Hugs. Hugging the person you love doesn’t require a lot of work, plus it’s absolutely free and very rewarding.
