Situs to Gel Terpinar is the second chapter of The Adventures of Peter Rabbit. A new hero arises in the land of rabbits, called the Pink Rabbit. The rabbit tells his friends that he has a friend, named Op, who is a good fighter, and also good at cooking.
The Adventures of Peter Rabbit, written by Beatrix Potter, is based on the worldwide popular children’s franchise about a rabbit called Peter, who finds himself in a strange land called Neverland. He is believed to be an orphan who lives in Neverland with other animals. The only thing that can distinguish him from other animals is that he is pink in colour. Peter, along with other animals, need to eat regularly so that they can grow bigger and healthier.
In this book, the author includes many recipes that can be used as starters or ingredients for meals. In Memoriam – Bisen Satu by Ruth Tillotte – Book Review
One of the main characters in this book is Barmaid Lulu, who happens to be Peter Rabbit’s neighbour, childhood best friend and companion. She was the one who first noticed Peter while he was looking for her mother at the railway station. When they reached Neverland, Barmaid helped Peter by taking him to the Shrek’s house. Here, Barmaid was able to meet Princess Fiona (called Princess Fiona in the novel) who became Barmaid’s friend and later on, wife. Princess Fiona treated Barmaid well, even giving her the chance to learn how to make her own jewellery. Barmaid later became an important part in the plot of the book as the one who helped Peter Rabbit escape from Neverland.
The story is centered on Peter’s search for the three jewels that can make his heart belong to Princess Fiona. Peter finds them in a cavern in Neverland, but later on, he meets the Fairy God Mother (called Flora in the novel) and learns that the gems he found are not actually gems at all, but dead bodies of Fairies that were transformed into those precious gems. He then uses the pieces of the bodies to make the jewellery that he was looking for. Barmaid also joins the adventure as she accompanies Peter through many difficulties. When they meet the three fairy godmothers again, they are taken back to Neverland, where the three fairy godmothers live.
This story is not only about Peter Rabbit, although this is the story that originally started the series. The second volume, “Bermain Diaries” will focus more on the relationship between the three fairy godmothers and the Fairy Lord. In the third volume, “Situs Situs to Gel Tercercaya” written by award-winning author Ruth Tillotte, we get to know more about the other characters including the evil Queen of Hearts, the half-witted queen who wishes to rule the world, the pirates of Neverland, the evil trio of Captain Hook, and the wise frog, Frypan. These characters join forces with the protagonist Peter, and together they find the Three Jewels of the Earth, which are hidden in the earth. To me, the story line and the characters are very appealing.
