The Y50 has a completely black casing. When one looks closely at the surface, it has a pattern that is visually appealing and provides better grip. The consistency is evident in its overall design.
Other people may be annoyed by the orange media buttons that contrast with the black surface. But we think the orange buttons break up the monotony of the all black look. The Y530 is a bit thicker than other laptops on the market, but surprisingly, it’s not heavy.
Now we take a look at the bottom of the Y530. Its bottom can be accessed whenever you want to upgrade some components. Inside you can see the processor, wireless card, hard drive and RAM. However, it appears that there were no security stickers.
While the IdeaPad boasts a bezel-less display, its viewing area has a few issues. Image distortion is a common problem with the Y530. Colors are accurate at a fixed angle. Move it, your screen is distorted. Even the screen “fades out” during certain times.
Another irritating viewing problem is glare. Even in low light, one can see one’s own reflection. This is very distracting, especially if you are trying to watch a movie with a very dark scene. You can see yourself. In addition to the lower viewing angle and glare issues, the Y530 also has a problem with DVD playback. The 1280 x 800 resolution lacks the 16:9 aspect ratio to enjoy your favorite DVD movie or TV episode.
