Melaleuca Product Review: Scam or Great Products?

The company was founded in 1985 when Frank Sloot took it over and got rid of the previous company and name and brought the company’s product line up to FDA standards. The company is now one of the largest private companies in Idaho. The company has established the Melaleuca Foundation, which currently supports an orphanage in Quito, Ecuador. So I can see that the company has a caring heart.

Melaleuca is also the name of a type of plant that has an essential oil called Ti tree (also known as tea tree). Some people misspell it as “melaluca” or “malaluca”. I have used tea tree oil products for many years on my horses as a topical treatment as it has great natural antibacterial and antifungal effects. Tea tree oil can be purchased at most drug or pet stores for a few dollars. An interesting fact is that the melaleuca plant is a valuable plant in Australia and Hawaii, but it is an invasive weed in some areas like Florida, where it is costing the state of Florida millions of thousands of dollars to try to eliminate it.

The Melaleuca Wellness Company product line includes more than 300 items. These items include household cleaning products, personal care items, candles, hygiene products, nutritional products, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. The company claims to have excellent green products.

First let me say that this review is NOT a scientific review of Melaleuca products.

I have no doubt that the Melaleuca Company is a great company and that they have some really good products that are better than your average drugstore product. I do not believe that Melaleuca is a fraud or scam. I just don’t feel like your dietary supplements are for me and my family. Even EPA-certified environmental safety does not mean that a product is biologically safe. A former college pharmacy professor of mine once said that “what is safe for the environment can sometimes be extremely toxic to humans.”

When I looked at the ingredient list of Melaleuca health supplements, I saw some chemicals that made me cringe. Every supplement I looked at on the label, including even the children’s health line of products, had bad or even toxic chemicals in it. I saw ingredients like

  • sucralose (not to be confused with sucrose)
  • fructose
  • silicon dioxide!
  • chromium chloride!

chromium chloride it’s so toxic it’s on the Hazardous Substance List! It is known to have genotoxic, mutagenic, and teratogenic (reproductive hazard) effects in the body. If you check the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for chromium chloride, you may find that it has an LD50, referring to its lethal dose to kill 50% of a population of mice in studies. So could the infant vitamin kill your child if your child got into the bottle and ate too much?

silicon dioxide it is found in many supplements in any store. It’s not “toxic”, but I found it interesting that EVERY Melaleuca supplement label I looked at…had this ingredient. Even children’s products had this ingredient. Silicon dioxide is the chemical name for SAND, just as sodium chloride is the chemical name for salt. Now, silicon dioxide is not harmful, but I don’t understand why you need to put it in all of your products. An interesting fact about silicon dioxide is that it is the active compound in abrasive cleaners and is also used to make computer chips and many types of glass.

While on the official Melaleuca website, I found out that they have a letter that lists products that do not contain any ingredients found in the list of prohibited substances published by the World Anti-Doping Code. Since not all products were listed, it means that in some of their supplements they use ingredients that are on the World Anti-Doping list of banned substances. This doesn’t necessarily mean those supplements will kill you, but if it’s internationally illegal for an Olympian to use any of Melaleuca’s supplements, that should say something.

Business opportunity

Your compensation plan was not for me. Among many companies, I considered Melaleuca at one point as a potential money-making opportunity to be able to earn residual income, as many people are looking for ways to work from home. But when I found out that you must have more than 2,500 people in your organization at Melaleuca Company to earn a six-figure income, I immediately lost interest in the business opportunity.

I found another work from home opportunity that pays much more for my time and is much easier for regular people to do successfully.

My conclusion

I can safely say that Melaleuca nutritional supplements were not for me or my family. I found a better supplement that I am extremely happy with. I have friends who use Melaleuca products and I feel that the Melaleuca vitamins are better than the vitamins and minerals from your health food store, but I know there are better ones out there. Why not use the best?

The Melaleuca Alternative

A unique supplement used by hundreds of Olympians!

I found an alternative product to Melaleuca that I really like! I source my supplements from a solid research and development company that has a unique niche market in organic supplementation. While looking for a health product to help my family with some health issues, I found a great opportunity to get paid to share a product I really love. I help others feel good about their health and energy. I get FREE supplements now and I look and feel years younger! It’s fun, it’s rewarding, and after a few years of hard work, it can put you back in a nice residual income.

Everyone wants good health and more energy. I have been taking glyconutrient supplements for a few years now and am extremely happy with my increased energy, immune system and excellent health.
