This would be a fun family activity for Valentine’s Day, but it works well for couples as well. Give each person (or team if it’s a family activity) a pad of paper and a pen and head to the local mall or any other place likely to have a lot of people and various items. The goal is to find as many red items as you can in the given time. Malls work great for this due to the wide variety of items on display, but for families with younger children, safety may be a concern. One rule of thumb should be that if you’ve seen one red shirt, you’ve seen them all, so you can only appear once. Winners get to choose where to dine (or have ice cream) that night.

Buy yourself some cute little Valentine’s Day cards that your partner would like, or make your own little cards out of pink and red construction paper cut into heart shapes. Then write clues about them to lead them on a wild goose chase around the house (or even across town!). You must decide where the end will be and what will be waiting there. Then write clues that guide them appropriately. He leaves a clue on the door he enters the house from when he returns from work. Take him around the house to various places. Perhaps, after kicking off her shoes and putting away her work-related stuff, she hops in the shower to clean herself up a bit. Then on top of his clothes is a note instructing him to get a bottle of wine out of the fridge. Next, go to the closet to get two glasses prompted to bring them to you, waiting in the bedroom. Or you could send him a text while he’s still at work telling him to go to the local wine shop and pick up a bottle that you’ve specifically reserved there, with another clue of course. This may lead to picking up your cute dress at the dry cleaner, which may lead to the bakery for a nice chocolate cheesecake, and then home with you. This one is fun! Even if you don’t think you’re creative, you’ll soon discover that you are as you plan this adventure.
