Why can’t my washing machine clean as efficiently as it used to?

Contrary to popular belief, a washing machine does not deteriorate in its cleaning functions. If your washing machine cleans efficiently the first time you use it, its functions will stay that way for a long time until it is turned off. If you start to notice that your clothes aren’t coming out as clean and you think the machine is making them a lot dirtier, there could be a problem with the parts, not the cleaning ability of the machine itself.

Here are some reasons why your washing machine can’t wash your clothes:

1. Dirty filters or no filters
Tap water contains all kinds of contaminants and debris. If you remove the filter from your machine, the water containing contaminants will naturally mix with your clothes. On top of that, the chemicals within the water, like fluoride and chlorine, will affect the effectiveness of your laundry detergent. Why not try changing your water filters first and see if it works for you? Normally today there is a water filter cartridge in modern washing machines. If you don’t have that, you may want to install a filtration system on your faucet.

2. The machine itself is dirty
How long has it been since you last cleaned your clothes? If you don’t remember, there may be mold, mildew, detergent residue, and dirty residue from your clothes on the drum walls or in the water pipes. Clean your machine to keep it running longer. Use a sponge and soak it in a baking soda solution. Scrub the tub walls to remove any stubborn residue. Then use the empty cold water cycle to wash it. Once this is done, you can program the hot water cycle and then add a cup of white vinegar to remove limescale, mold and mildew residue.

3. The spin cycle is not efficient enough
The machine’s spinner is what infuses water and detergent into the fibers of the clothes. If it doesn’t spin, naturally it won’t be able to clean efficiently. Check what is wrong with the spin cycle. There could be something stuck in the washer belt, like a button or coin. Or maybe the parts that make the spinner move are already deteriorating. In that case, you may need to replace some of those parts with new ones so your machine can clean effectively again.

These are some of the reasons why your washing machine does not clean as effectively. Look for a corresponding solution so that you can put an end to this problem.
