Write articles and books about what you know

I love cars and trucks and after more than twenty-five years of running a breakdown service, there isn’t much I haven’t come across, which is why I’ve published a book on the subject.

The first words out of my youngest daughter April’s mouth were not mommy or daddy, but truck. As we left the house one day, she just pointed to our Mercedes Breakdown truck and said ‘truck’.

April loved getting out in the truck, she even installed her little baby car seat in the middle seat, and she met so many people in one day in the repair truck that she was never going to be a shy person. in adulthood. Now, at eighteen, she is anything but retired, not only can she hold her own in conversation with anyone, but she has a lash of the tongue with a very sharp, dry British sense of humour, much like me and her father.

When you run any business with a lot of direct customer contact, you inevitably end up with a very open outlook on life, sometimes it’s hard to believe the things people do in their cars, let alone the way some appear to be. oblivious to other road users. I can’t count the number of times I’ve sat in the repair truck at a stop light watching the driver or passenger in the car next to me pick their noses and then eat the contents of their fingers. Great goal right.

Have you ever been towed straight into snow and black ice along a small country road, and the driver of the truck towing you forgets he was behind them, going at speeds that leave you with no chance to stay on the road? one piece. Well I did, with my husband driving the tow truck in front, while having the owner of the car in the passenger seat next to me, thinking what an amazing driver he was, if he wasn’t an expert in opposing blocking before this incident. . I must have chased after it, laughing, it was a Ford Capri, and anyone who knows anything about cars can tell you that they are notorious for poor handling in the wet, let alone on snow and ice.

Personally, I think it was a small miracle that we managed to get Capri to her destination without a scratch, I still remember the terror on the owners’ faces during this trip back home, I thought she was going to make a mess. All he could say when we got there was that he thought he was a brilliant driver and how much respect he had for my driving, laughing, great job, didn’t know this was a ride that gave me shit. All is well if it ends well though, life can be crazy but it’s those crazy moments that we all remember so well in the afterlife and look back on with a smile on our face.

I’ve had so many great, weird, and wonderful experiences during our years running the breakdown service, and I’ve used a lot of my experiences in the stuff I write. You can use your experiences in the same way, there is a world of stories that you can tell from your own memories!

Do you have a great story or stories to tell through your own life experiences? If so, maybe you should write articles and books about them. People love to read about all sorts of incidents that occur in the lives of others, give it a try sometime, plus it’s very therapeutic to walk down memory lane.
