Adopting a Pug – Do your research before adopting

We live in a world where almost everything is available online. Adopting a pug is no exception. Petfinder, among many other websites, has been a great relief for pet lovers. It features detailed lists on a large number of pets, including pugs in the United States. Pugrescue also offers a great list on pugs. It even shows details about Canada’s pug rescue groups.

Approaching a pug rescue center is a great idea to adopt a pug. Although you can approach one or even more of them in person, an online approach would be a smarter move. It would give more information about pugs with just a click of the mouse. When it comes to online computer scams, you will be asked to trust your discretion. Common sense is a great ally to protect you against any type of fraudulent deal.

One of the common scams involving pugs is a “pay it forward” scam. It typically entices pet lovers to send advance payment to almost non-existent banks. The fee charged by most dog rescue groups is non-refundable. Usually, the amount is around thirty dollars.

A pug lover would find pug rescue centers in almost every state in America and quite a few in Canada. Pugs are very popular with pet lovers and can be easily found in almost every pet rescue center except one that is designed specifically for pugs.

Although being a pug lover is great in and of itself, have a little more heart. Every time you visit the pug center or pet center, take a look at the conditions in which not only the pug you want to adopt is kept, but even other pets. If you believe that the facility authorities have been unkind to pets in any way, consider it your duty to report it to the SPCA, i.e. the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Most pug rescue centers hire the services of a volunteer to interview the individual or a group of them, as the case may be, who are interested in adopting the pug. The interview actually aims to find out whether the people who are interested in adopting the pug have any knowledge about pug care or not. The center would not allow the pug lover to even take a look at the pug before the interview takes place.

If you want to clarify the interview to successfully adopt a pug, you should try to get some basic information about pugs, such as how they behave, look or sound when in perfect health or otherwise. Usually a pug is loud. Most of them are also thick.

Finally, it is common sense, it is always good to keep in mind that a pug is not a human and cannot adapt to you. It is you who should take care of the pug completely. In addition, the pug, upon adoption, will become part of your family.
