Caring for your dog’s coat and hair

In order for your dog to have a nice, healthy coat, you need to understand the nature of your dog’s coat and whether it is prone to any skin problems. Certain breeds need regular grooming and grooming at the grooming center to look their best. Breed with moderate to high maintenance cost:

Maltese, Shi-Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier, Silky Terrier, Llhasa Apso, Pekingese, Poodle, Shetland, Cocker Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer, etc.

Breed with minimum cost coat maintenance:

Jack Russel Terrier, Chihuahua, Beagle, Pug, Bulldog, Basset Hound, Dachshund, Dalmatian, Labrador, German Shepherd, Siberian Husky, etc.

Long-haired dogs generally need daily brushing, while short-haired breeds can get away with weekly brushing.

All healthy pets should have a shiny, non-matte coat. However, having a shiny, healthy coat that will be jealous of others requires extra care and effort. This includes some important factors below.

healthy diet

Coat care foods involve studying canine nutrition and product labels. Learn to read pet food labels and look for healthy additives that build fur. A good diet with at least 21% protein is important, not just the filler (flour, corn, or wheat products). No table scraps or human food. Veterinarians are an excellent source of information on dietary advice to improve the coat, skin, and general health of pets.

brush regularly

The basics of coat care include regular coat inspections, brushing and combing, proper bathing, and a healthy diet. Your pet has natural oils in his skin, and regular brushing spreads those oils throughout his coat and keeps it shiny. Brushing also removes loose dirt from your dog’s coat, and it feels great for your furry friend. Gently brush hair down and in the direction of hair growth.

Elimination of tangles or tangles

If you find a tangle, work from the outside of the tangle to the inside, holding the hair between the tangle and the dog’s body to avoid any pain. A mixture of hair detangler and water can be sprayed on the matte and gently massaged to remove the tangle. If you need to remove the hair mat, be very careful because you could end up hurting your pet if you are not skillful enough. Always use blunt scissors and cut from closest to the skin to far from the skin, with the ends of the scissors pointing away from the dog’s body, not towards him.

Toilets

Choose the shampoo with natural ingredients. As they age, their skin may become more sensitive. Select a mild dog shampoo for your senior dog. Shampoos made with coconut or palm oil are the mildest. Although bathing is an essential component in keeping his coat fresh and presentable, it should not be overdone. Most vets suggest bathing a dog no more than once a month. Excessive bathing can dry out your skin and lead to hot, itchy spots, which can lead to scratches and infections. If a dog is to be bathed more than once a month, an aloe-based shampoo and conditioner should be used, and Omega fatty acid foods and supplements should be given to support the production of oils for the coat.

Essential Grooming Tools

Choose the right brush for your breed. Fine tooth dog combs are used for smooth, fine or silky coats, while medium tooth combs are used for normal coats. If your dog has a very thick or dense coat, use a wide tooth comb. Bristle brushes are good for long-haired dogs and grooming gloves are good for short-haired breeds.

Choose the right shampoo:

Just like our shampoo, each skin type may require a different shampoo treatment. Whether your dog has normal, oily, or dry skin, scaly skin, or itchy, sensitive skin, everything needs to be properly studied. Choose an all-natural formula for the shampoo. Natural formulas always work best.
