Lodge Dutch Ovens

Lodge Dutch ovens are very, very popular. In fact, if you want a Dutch oven, you’ll definitely want to buy the Lodge brand. Lodge is a company located in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee and is one of the few remaining American manufacturers of cast iron cookware. I live about an hour and a half south of Pittsburgh, and the Lodge brand is a great reflection of the small, working-class southern town where they’re made.

What I want to do is show you the highest rated Lodge products on Amazon.com. It’s going to be hard to choose because you’ll rarely see a Lodge product rated less than 4 stars. But today, I’m going to focus only on the 5-star Lodge Dutch Ovens.

First up is this Lodge Logic 5-Quart Pre-Seasoned Dutch Oven. It’s ready to cook right out of the box, although you won’t harm anything if you lightly oil it before use. Its proprietary vegetable oil formula really makes cooking so much easier because food doesn’t stick to the pan. It also allows heat to radiate more evenly instead of being focused in one area.

This oven is over 10″ in diameter and 4″ deep. You can cook beans, roast, chili, chicken, just about anything you need because it is such a large size. It really works great for slow cooker recipes like flavored meats due to its great heat holding capacity. And basically, these Lodge Dutch ovens will last a lifetime if you care for them properly. This includes cleaning it immediately after cooking with just water and not running it through the dishwasher.

Another great product from Lodge is this 8-Quart Camping Dutch Oven. If you love cooking outdoors, you definitely need to buy this. It has small legs so you can cook directly on a campfire, or it has the handle that allows you to hang it over the fire. Either way, you’re guaranteed a delicious meal that only comes with a combination of Lodge cookware and outdoor cooking. You can also use this cookware for indoor cooking, as it’s oven-safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Also, this product is very easy to clean. A stiff brush will remove any charred or sticky food, and a little warm soapy water will do the rest. I’ve personally used one of these Lodge pans for cooking, and let me tell you, it’s one less thing to worry about while camping.

Ok… I’m going to cheat here. I told her I was going to review only 5-star products, but this 6-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven is too beautiful to pass up. I’m not sure why it has such a “low” 4.5 star rating, but it is. But take a look at the handiwork on this Lodge cookware. The glossy blue glaze really adds sparkle to any kitchen setting and could actually be the centerpiece of the kitchen. I love the color and look of this particular item, and since it’s made by Lodge, you can be sure it cooks great too!
