So, I’m sure many of you watched the Survivor 20 season premiere last night. I managed to watch it this morning and was thrilled to see some of my favorite cast members return to battle “nature” and each other in Heroes vs. Villains.
There were a few highlights for me in this episode that are worth mentioning. First, the hints about the love that develops between the dragon slayer and the black widow. You all know who I’m talking about: Coach and Jerri. They would be the perfect TV couple, wouldn’t they? You know you expected it, so maybe they’ll play it in the next few episodes.
An interesting aspect was how my favorite survivor Russel seemed to fade into the background towards the second half of the show. Either he is quietly working his magic behind the scenes, or he has found his match and will quickly fall prey to veteran players.
Finally, I was very happy to see that Mrs. Sugar was voted out at the end of the episode. I can’t stand her at all. She looks like she is 12 years old and constantly complains. She must have been cast on the show just so they had someone to vote for in the first episode. It was hilarious watching Colby try to distance himself from her. Oh! Being rejected by Colby. Not good.
In any case, this first installment fulfilled the promises of its promos. As one of many around the world who have seen every episode of Survivor since it started with Season 1, I can say that this should be the best yet. Fingers crossed that Russel steps out of the shadows and truly takes his rightful crown as the Greatest Survivor to ever play the game.
