Warhammer Online – Age of Reckoning Collector’s Edition Pre-Order

One of the most anticipated games of 2008 is not Wrath of the Lich King, nor is it the already released Age of Conan. It’s Warhammer Online, which has been delayed multiple times and redesigned from scratch by EA Mythic.

This game will be solely based on massive multiplayer PvP action, clan vs clan and even world (read server) vs server battle. For a PvP lover like me, I love an ever-changing battle, one that is unscripted and requires players to make smart decisions with catlike reflexes. Warhammer seems to fit this bill quite well.

This is a type of game that Blizzard has never been able to commit to with World of Warcraft, as the game is stuck on PvE content…which I’ve grown to love over time as well. However, no game has tormented my senses as much as Warhammer, they’ve been bugging me for a year and a half with this game… and the reward is finally near.

I delayed action after hearing that players who purchased Warhammer: Age of Reckoning Collector’s Edition would be guaranteed access to the upcoming open beta. I finally went looking for a copy yesterday… only to find that they were all out of stock at the major retailers listed on the Warhammer website.

After diligent searching, I found a copy for myself. This has only been available to pre-order for a mother week, and at an exorbitant cost above the normal game of an extra $40. So it’s easy to see that I’m not the only one very excited about this game.

Players will most likely flock to Warhammer, just as they did Age of Conan…in fact, I’d venture to guess that Warhammer will break the AoC record for subscriptions by release date and first month subscriptions.

That’s all for today… now I’m patiently waiting for September and a Warhammer Beta ticket!
