Yes, American Idol is going to Vegas. Well, it’s about time you consider that American Idol has been to Hollywood, and everyone in Southern California eventually goes to Las Vegas. It’s not that far away, with or without this proposed stimulus bill for a bullet train. I’m not sure why American Idol is going to Vegas other than Vegas needs more promotion and publicity to get people to come back and gamble again. We all know that Las Vegas was one of the hardest hit areas during the recession, so it’s good to see some activity there.

Sin City deserves some attention after being condemned by various politicians as some kind of executive bonus, retirement getaway, and high-end resort reward, which is supposedly a bad thing. In fact, Las Vegas workers have paid dearly for such comments, as more than a third of the casinos have gone bankrupt in the old part of the city and 35% of the workforce on the strip has been laid off.

That’s not very funny considering the housing market downturn has really taken its toll on areas like Centennial, Seven Hills, Henderson and North Vegas. In fact, the foreclosure numbers in that area are some of the worst in the country.

I wonder, though, why American Idol has chosen SimCity for their next big “hooray!” As it seems to me, the reality show talent show is getting a bit ridiculous as some of the contestants don’t have to be on stage, they make a joke of it all. And that’s why I’m happy to have a TV with a remote control, could you please hand me the channel clicker, because that station will be changed? Please consider all of this.
